Dear God heal me.  Please send your miraculous power.

Marshall all forces available to overcome my condition, including medical interventions, drugs and the natural healing powers you created within my own body.

God heal me with the supernatural aid of the prayers offered by my family, friends and by people I may not even know.  Wrap me in their loving prayers like a warm healing balm.

Plant hope in my heart during my hour of pain.

Grant me patience and trust when your healing comes slowly but surely.

Give me wisdom to hear your voice and to do my part in the healing process.

Show me a new vision for my life when I am well.

Teach me to thank and praise you for every small milestone and improvement. 

Enable me to learn how to accept help graciously.      

Be tangibly present during difficult treatments. 

Shield me from despair.  Love me through my doubts.

About This God Heal Me Prayer

Physical healing is one of the most requested topics of prayer in Christian churches today. In my experience, the vast majority of these healing prayers are prayed by someone other than the sick person.  As an example, a few years back I was the head of a church telephone prayer chain where people called in specific requests for their life situations and I passed the request down a list of the prayer team.  It amazed me the number of different types of illnesses we prayed about including cancer treatments, medical tests, operations, strokes, chronic fatigue, allergies and even an accidental electrocution.

You would think that someone like me who had prayed for so many sick people would find it second nature to pray for myself when I got sick.  But that wasn’t the case.

I discovered that when I was sick and in pain praying wasn’t easy.  I found out that I was too stressed out, worried and exhausted to pray. 

After I was healthy again, I decided to write a personal prayer that I could use to pray for healing when I was in pain and having difficulty concentrating.    

I wrote the prayer in one or two line sentences so it could be prayed all the way through or one line at a time over time when a particular line held special meaning for the day’s situation.

One of the reasons that I think it’s much easier to pray for someone else to be healed than to pray for myself is because of my secret doubts.  I don’t admit to others that there’s a tug of war going on inside my head about whether I believe strongly enough or am worthy of healing. 

When you’re ill and having a hard time getting over your doubts, be assured that God is always present to hear your prayer in the redeeming moment of the present.  He meets you where you are when you pray.  He draws closer to you when you draw closer to him.  God wants you to admit your doubts and fears so he can help you with them.  Pray with confidence, knowing that God cares.    

Scripture promises to claim when you are praying “God heal me”     

Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.  (Matthew 9:35 NIV)

O Lord my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.  (Psalm 30:2 NIV)

The Lord will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from the bed of illness.  I said, “O Lord, have mercy on me; heal me, for I have sinned against you.”  (Psalm 41:3,4 NIV)
