Gratitude Prayer for God’s Presence and Care

Each breath I take belongs to you

My heart entwined with yours

I thank you Lord for your great love

And praise you evermore

You keep me safe inside your plan

And guide each step I take.

Although I know not where I go,

I trust your love and grace

So Joyfully I thank you Lord

For blessings undeserved

And humbly serve you

With my life

And all you lead me through

Through pain and suffering

You have held

My small and fragile hand

And as my Father, moved the stones

That blocked the path ahead.

So my sweet Jesus

With great joy

I praise you in each day

And know you listen with great love

To every prayer I pray.

About this Gratitude Prayer for God’s Presence and Care

Several years ago I wrote this prayer, while watching a loved one spiral downward, with addiction. I felt helpless to know what to say or do.

I went on a retreat to quiet my thoughts and feelings and to ask God for his help and direction. My heart was breaking, so I desperately literally “hung onto the foot of the cross, of Jesus” as my source of strength and hope.

This prayer is a result of what God put on my heart. Through prayer and patience, along with education through a Godly support group, I learned how to let go and trust God more for the outcome.

Today, my loved one is healed, after going through a great recovery program, and I witness daily, his amazing answers, when I simply trust him!

Looking back, it is amazing to me that God prompted me to compose a prayer of gratitude and trust during my time of urgent need when I felt helpless and unsure of what to do.  From this experience I learned that things don’t have to be going well in our lives for gratitude to be a powerful force that connects us to God’s presence.
