Starting a New Job Prayer
As I start on my new job I thank you for giving me this opportunity. I am thankful that my employer had enough confidence to choose me for the job and I pray I will fulfill and exceed their expectations.
As I learn the ropes of my new job, give me the patience and perseverance I need. Help me to catch on quickly. Show me how to best apply my skills, education and experience.
Give me the wisdom to know when I should ask for help or when I should try and figure things out on my own. Help me to seek the advice of others and profit from it. Guide me to any special training that might benefit me.
Show me how to make a good impression on my new boss and co-workers. Help me portray a friendly, courteous manner. Make me a good listener. Help me show my willingness to work hard and get the job done.
Give me insight into the best ways to communicate with my boss and co-workers. Guide me during meetings and show me when I should listen and when I should express my opinions and share my ideas.
Help me manage my time wisely. Show me if I should come in early or stay late to catch up on things as I learn the job.
Make me aware of tasks that are potential time drains. Help me to focus on the most urgent things and save for later the things that aren’t as important.
Help me to understand my responsibilities clearly. Give me a good grasp of the bigger organization and my place in it.
Led me to someone who might become a potential mentor. And show me how to become a mentor to others.
Help me to overcome my personal doubts about whether I have the skills and knowledge to do this job. Increase my confidence as I rely on you for help me.
Help me to do my very best job every day and grant me a sense of accomplishment. Help me to see improvement in my performance and in the results produced. Even if others may not acknowledge my efforts, help me to receive your affirmation for tasks done well and service faithfully rendered.
Please show me how to take care of myself mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually so I will be able to maintain a good balance between work and life. Help me to unplug at home. Help me get a good night’s sleep. Give me quality time with loving, positive and encouraging people. Give me spiritual refreshment.
I claim the Scripture that says, “May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us.“ (Psalm 90 :17 NIV)
May I endeavor to live out the Scripture that says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as if working for the Lord, not for men.” (Colossians 3:23 NIV)
