Cross near trees with grapesHere is a New Years prayer for you from Bible verses to use in your prayer times that will give you the power to keep your New Year’s resolutions.

New Years Prayer for Your  Prayer Times

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you that you are a God of new beginnings who declares from your throne in heaven, “I am making everything new.”   (Revelations 21:5 NIV)  Thank you for giving us months, seasons and years  that help us mark the progression of our time here on earth as the Bible verse says, “The moon marks off the seasons, and the sun knows when to go down.”  (Psalm 104:19 NIV)

I now begin a new year, asking you to send your Spirit to me to strengthen my willpower and shape my attitudes so I can keep my resolutions about more healthy, holy living that I have made.  Here is one specific change I would like to make that I need your help to accomplish ___________________  I claim the renewing power of the Holy Spirit from the Bible verse in Psalm 104, “When you send your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the earth.”  (Psalm 104:30 NIV)

I also pray for my family.  Here is one specific wish I have for them in the New Year _____________________________.    I pray that you will open your hand to me and my family this year and provide the things we need according to this Bible verse, “When you open your hand, they are satisfied with good things.”  (Psalm 104:28 NIV)

I pray your guidance for the New Year.  Help me to learn to listen to you and turn to you when making decisions big and small so that I may end up where you desire me to be when this year is ended.  Here is one issue on which I need your guidance today _____________________________________.  I pray the prayer of Samuel today, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”  ( I Samuel 3:10 NIV)

I thank you that whatever the year may bring, I can face it with confidence because I know you will walk with me.  Here is something that worries me about what may be ahead for me this year __________________.  I speak your protection and presence over this new year from the promise in the Bible, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4 NIV)  I depend on the assurance of Jesus when he said, “ And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:20 )

And so with your divine help I enter this New Year with joy and confidence, thankful for what has been and trusting you for what is to come.  In the name of Jesus Christ, the Risen Savior who sits on the throne.  Amen.
