This Aggressive Cancer Diagnosis Prayer can be a strong support for someone facing a cancer type that doctors say grows or spreads more quickly than other cancers.

Aggressive Cancer Diagnosis Prayer

Dear God, _________________________ has been told by the doctors that they have an aggressive form of cancer.

Hearing a diagnosis is hard enough, but it’s really scary to hear “aggressive cancer.”

We lift to you in prayer all feelings of fear about the future and worries about treatment.  In their darkest times send caring people to surround them with your love, compassion and prayer.

Provide someone to be their advocates to accompany them to medical appointments and consultations to help in understanding different treatment options and plans.

Shorten the time and remove all red tape standing in the way of needed treatments.

Enable meaningful conversations about the disease, possible treatments and bigger life concerns about families, responsibilities and livelihoods.

May our prayers and the prayers of many strengthen them daily.  Send those who can pray together with them in person.  When they are alone and feel isolated, may they feel the uplifting power of those who are praying from afar.  May your good people continually place notes of encouragement in their hands, expressions of love in their hearts and acts of kindness in their days.

We pray that the practical needs of their lives will be met while their energy is consumed with treatments and appointments.  Provide them with meals, transportation, household help, business assistance and childcare help.

We pray for good outcomes of all treatments, for minimal side effects and maximum healing power.

Grant good days and times of rest and normality.  May they have something to laugh about daily and good memories to warm their souls.  Help them to grow in hope by looking forward to future trips, events and time with family.

Enable them to remain positive each day, looking to see where God is working and focusing on loving  those in their lives.

We pray for healing – body, mind, soul and spirit.  May your mighty power be at work through all means possible.  And may grace, trust and hope abound.

Amen.

About this Aggressive Cancer Diagnosis Prayer

I wrote this prayer after a week in which I received requests to pray for 3 different people who had been newly diagnosed with aggressive cancer of different types.  One of the family members who made the request for prayer said that the phrase “aggressive cancer” seemed like a dragon breathing fire and fear.

I looked up aggressive cancer diagnosis and found that this term is given to types of cancer that grow or spread quickly.  This classification is based on the microscopic appearance of the cancer cells and the data on the progression and treatment outcomes of other patients with this type of cancer.

From one friend I learned that although cancer may be an aggressive type, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it can’t be treated effectively.  As an example, my friend’s family member had an aggressive form of bladder cancer.  Thankfully, surgery successfully removed the whole tumor and the biopsy showed that the cancer had been contained within the bladder and hadn’t spread.  A treatment was available where medication is applied locally to the bladder and then flushed out.  When I told my friend I’d never heard about this type of treatment, she told me that she had been surprised when asking prayer in their Sunday school class that several people in the class not only knew about this treatment option but knew people who had it and had been well ever since.

Another friend with a family member with aggressive cancer shared some of the things I should put into this prayer about aggressive cancer.  She emphasized the healing and strengthening power of prayer, visits, calls, notes and offers to help.

The Lord is my light and my salvation- whom shall I fear?
